Bridges Tutorial and Learning Center started in May 1993, as a purely tutorial center with only 10 students. Our center has slowly expanded its services with the opening of an inclusive learning friendly environment for preschool in 2001 and has expanded further to a full elementary school to the present.
to learn to live together, to know, to do and to be.
"Inclusion is Belonging."
Inclusion is a right, not a favor, not a trial period.
Inclusion is a sense of belonging, being part of a community
and being valued and respected as a contributing member.
Inclusion is accepting differences and responding to individual needs.
Inclusion gives children the permission to be themselves.
Inclusion facilitates positive social interactions.
Inclusion offers opportunities and rewards for children with and without disabilities.
When you are a child with a disability what does it mean to be included?
Inclusion means more than just physically being placed with typically developing children.
It is not a place or a measured amount of time spent with others.
Universally...it means belonging.
It is the right of every child to be developed of his potentials fully.
Every child's potential can be fully developed
The Multilevel Class
(Now on its 6th year at Bridges Tutorial & Learning Center)
In line with our philosophy, BTLC promotes an inclusive education. One way to do this is by forming a more heterogeneous (multilevel grouping) set-up where a community is created inside the classroom.
This means that we do not simply offer multilevel classes in the Preschool to Grade 2 (Nursery/Kinder combined/ Gr. 1 & 2 combined in one class) but throughout our organization, students, teachers, administrators and parents sharing decision making and working together to make a positive difference in the communities where we live and work.
